A Scar that grows into neighboring skin is keloid. Ordinary hypertrophic scar is limited to the scar area and never grows after 1year

1.If it is not itching or paining.Leave it alone

2.If symptomatic

i.  Apply Betnovate Oint locally (Steroid oint)

ii. Inj. Hydrocortisone Acetate 2ml+ Xylocaine 2ml injected intralesional (intradermal) into the entire keloid x every week x3-4 wks (local Hydrocortisone =9A-6).Use disposable 5cc syringe & No. Needle.Use force to push to the fluid into the keloid.

3. Hirudoid ointment locally and gently massage in x 2 wks x to soten hard non-keloid scars/ (Heparinoid =11j-2)

4. If patient insists on excision, refer to a plastic surgeon.But results are not guaranteed .The keloid may grow again.

* Intralesional Hydrocortisone is the best treatment. The itching & pain will reduce and further growth of the keloid will be arrested.
